AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR MCLEAN COUNTY

Discovery Wind provides an opportunity to help address North Dakota’s growing electricity demand with homegrown energy, while diversifying McLean County’s economy and supporting jobs in the local community. 

Discovery Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for local schools, governments, and landowners. In the long term, the project promises to bring sustained tax revenue to the county for the local government and schools, as well as more than 30 years of local purchasing, employment, and investment.

Landowners participating in the wind project will receive annual lease payments. These payments will continue over the projected 30-year lifespan of the wind farm, injecting millions of dollars into the local economy to support local merchants, contractors, equipment suppliers, auto dealers, and others.
